Black people still live in a society in which we are often rendered invisible. The sun rises and sets to the deep gurgle, like a moan caught somewhere between the head and the feet, of Black blood filling and overflowing. Black bodies, Black lives still hold little value, even to ourselves.
“Testimony” - I’m at the library trying to read myself out of writers block. Reading Testimony, a book that caught my eye quite simply because of the title. Testimony, testify - so much power in those words. I came across this quote and just stopped. I think I may have found what I needed to break out of my funk.
